Guuuysss! Oh my Gosh! This thing G5 is the Beast! I convinced my brother to buy it too! I Love this thing, try to ride it on ECO mode on the first ride and setup the wheels and truck by yourself carefully and on more rides you get to know how the Surfing the Road is so Amazing! Love it so much! I hope he will get many fun with us!
After 320km I already have problems with battery. Board with original battery is borderline useless because it turn on and off always. But before this battery problem it goes crazy good. I am waiting for new battery.
Love my Backfire Board, still a little bit wobbly, especially at max speed, but with a little more practice it'll work out just fine!
I'm absolutely thrilled!
A little upset since no one is returning my call or email. Said was going to arrive yesterday so took work off. Now stuck in limbo wondering if they lost my psckage or something. Warehouse is a hour away and ordered over a week ago? If they answer me ill update review?
Although at first I was told I would have to buy spare motors, thanks to Global Customer Service I was able first to find out that one of the wheels was not functioning; it did not turn when using the remote. Then by swapping the connectors, to test if it was a motor issue, both motors started working again. So the problem was that the connector must have got lose
and was causing interference. Now everything seems fine, but will have to road test it to make sure is OK.
Motors broke, not sure yet if one or both, after 8 months+. Have not been able to use the G5 much, at most fully recharged the board from low battery status for six or seven times since I received it. Since the 6-month warranty period expired, only solution provided is to buy spare parts with 90-day warranty period and given a $20 discount code on the purchase. Taking into account that to replace the motors is not economical at all, and as said the G5 has not been used extensively, if I replace the motors what warranty would I have that this might happen again anytime soon!
Really I'd like to give this a 4.5. Out of the box it's a great beginner board that can keep you content as you get bolder, to a point, and if you stick to street urethane wheels under 100m. Where I have some beefs is the out of the box setup, bushings in particular. It's *way* too tight with stiff bushings from the factory for me and while I'm pretty light at 135 even loosening the kingpin nuts as far as they can go doesn't give much more turn but does add a lot of slop when the board is just going straight ahead. If you're under 160 I think you need to plan on getting softer bushings right away.
Smooth roads are a blast on this with the factory wheel but if you have lousy roads maybe consider something else more AT focused. Bigger wheels will make a big impact on your performance. I didn't count on how bad our roads and multi use paths could be but 3-6" "cracks" are really common and those require a dismount no matter the wheel you put on here. I've got Cloudwheel Rover 110's now and they are a HUGE improvement over the stock wheels for our typical 1-2" cracks, sidewalk joints and rough pavement but the downside is they really blunt the power and kill the range. The Rovers bring up my comfort level on any given terrain by about 2-3mph over the stock wheels but they also reduce top speed on hills by the same amount. A local section of 19-21% hill is a leisure 6mph now vs 9. Acceleration thrust is cut dramatically...but that could be a good thing if you are a total beginner or want to let someone use your board. Not sure how much they affect top speed as I'm not comfortable riding over 23-24 which it will still totally do on level ground.
My range has likewise taken a dump from almost 28-30miles at my typical pace to 20, way more than I expected from just a wheel change.
Just think about what you really need before jumping in as you'll enjoy this a lot more for longer if you can keep to normal street wheels.
Nice board.
+++ Reliable, stable and good de-/accellaration.
-- Improvement, for me (shoe size 11,5), would be a wider and a bit longer board. Also not very fond of the uphill curved structure on the board where your feet are positioned.
Review 7,5 out of a 10
Had this for almost two months now and I love it, much better than the era2 I had before, had a tiny glitch in the esc but customer service quickly helped me out that through the warranty, but I did have to regrip it after the process
I have been e-skating for 4 years and this is my G5 review.
The G5 is my 3rd e-board and a great value for money.
The G5 is great for cruising around, commuting to work (as i do) and offers a smooth reliable and high quality feeling all around with great maneuverability and light weight.
Also the hub motors are slick and more incognito than the belt driven counterparts.
The negatives are the weak engines that makes the acceleration a bit boring if you are used to more power, although the engines easily get you to the promised 40k/ph on flat surface.
The second part is what i am suspecting a manufacturing fault as one of the hub motor trucks have become slightly bent after about a month and a half of use. I have treated the board with the same harshness as my previous boards and skated the same routes so ive concluded that either the hub motor trucks are more frail than the solid belt motor ones or there has been some damage done to it during manufacturing.
The board still works but i dont want to skate at full speed or over bumps in case it breaks.
I will contact backfire and update this review once the issue has been resolved.
Either way i highly recommend this board for beginners and intermediate skaters that wants a big bang for their buck.
I have previously owned the backfire zealot and an all teerain exway atlas pro. The G5 is easily worth its asking price.

I am impressed by the power and build quality. It is also easy to carry, has good grip, and is not too heavy. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. If I have to mention a downside, it is that the grip on the remote sometimes causes you to accidentally press the turbo button and the other speed button. Because the board then always immediately activates the other modes (even when the throttle is fully open), the board shoots forward at nitro speed. Adjusting this small detail would make the board better and safer. For example, by repositioning the physical buttons on the remote or adjusting the software so that the modes can only effectively be changed after the throttle is in the neutral position.
Love my new board, the performance is amazing and love the extended mileage compared to my other board. Also love the remote as well. It is a bit heavy but I know that helps with distance. Also great delivery and packaging as well. I'm a very happy customer
Stopped working after a year with no reason I took care of the board cleaned it regularly. I contacted support and they basically told me oh well because I didn’t purchase the extended warranty.
