The board looks nice. but that's about all I can give it props for.
It is so stiff that even on incredibly smooth surfaces I can feel the grain in it. Sidewalks are a nightmare as my feet feel every groove in them as a hard bump. I figured it had to be like that because of the battery, so I pressed on.
The range is not what I was expecting. The site originally said 12-15 miles, and riders over 245 pounds may experience a decrease in board speed or range. I am not close to 245 pounds and barely get 8 miles out of it before it runs out of power.
Can it be ridden like a normal board if it runs out of power? No, for the simple reason that the drive wheels have a large amount of friction on them for its regenerative braking, slowing you down to a stop barely any distance after each push.
This is by far my largest complaint. The remote used to drive the board has an absolutely terrible connection with it. Sometimes it works as intended. Most of the time I will be riding at a constant speed, not pushing the board to go faster or slower, when all of a sudden, the power will cut off and the board will slow down. Then a half second later, the power kicks back on to get the board back up to speed. It would be one thing if this was fixed by turning everything off and on again, but that doesn't fix it. I thought it may be getting hot, but this also happens when first riding the board. It has been happening since I first pulled the board out of the box and is ridiculously dangerous if the control given is delayed for any time, especially if its braking.
Lastly, the buyer needing to pay for return shipping if we don't like the board is a complete trash move from the company. It would be one thing if that was after a year or even 6 months, but if you rode any of their boards for a day and didn't like it, you would still need to pay for its return.
If I didn't have to pay to return the board, I would have by now.

Board was amazing until it ran out of charge rather abruptly and I almost ate it. The paint on the hub motors is also super delicate and I hit a little bit of gravel with my one wheel and all the paint scraped off of the one hub. Wish I would’ve went with the Evolve instead, but it is what it is.

Absolutely love my new board. Straight out the box, it was very simple to use and get used to. Still haven't gotten up to full speed because 13 mph already feels like I'm flying. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has any experience skateboarding.

I am very happy with my ERA2, even I think it doesn't claim 25% with a 165 pound rider.
The battery integrated in this very light board, gives it a very nice flat shape and the backpack is just great to have when you combine walking and riding.
The performance is very good as in flat road it get easily the 26 MPH (or more) and riding at 15 MPH it should reach 15 miles.
The only issue is that the new hub motors are not adapted to the cloud wheels. So I could only change the 2 front wheels (I had to buy 4). Just with the front cloud wheels, the board is much more comfortable.
I hope the back (motor) cloud wheels will be soon available, and ........ it will be possible to buy just the 2 back cloud wheels. (otherwise I will have 4 extra front cloud wheels)

It’s fun to ride but seems like the battery runs down too quickly. I’m 180lbs and after about 2 miles of level ground it feels like the power drops off.

I love it! This is my first electric skateboard. I feel safer riding on my ERA 2 than I do on my regular skateboard. It runs great, super quiet, sleek, and smooth. First ride I got about 9 miles on one charge, mostly in sport mode. At about the 8 mile mark the remote started to vibrate to alert me on my battery getting low. I love that the battery is hidden too. It really does look like a traditional skateboard! I think the flex on the board, with the battery being built into it, is perfect, for me at least. In my opinion, it does have a SLIGHT flex to it. I emphasize this, because I've watched a few video reviews that all say "it has ZERO flex." Those people I think must love the super flexy type of boards. I'm glad I went with the Nebula design option, because I don't like the backwards arrow on the other designs grip tape. Speaking of the grip tape though, the cushiony grip tape (not sure what it's really called) is great. It really helps with the comfort factor.
And one more bonus feature that I think is very cool and I have yet to watch or read a single review that mentions this feature: the controller has a CRUISE (Speed) CONTROL feature!
Double Bonus: the free backpack to carry the board! Very nicely made and works great!
Triple Bonus: SUPER AFFORDABLE!
I highly recommend the Backfire ERA 2. I think it's great for beginners and for experienced riders. It's perfect for short commutes or a nice cruise on a paved bike and hike trail!
BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN!

The battery is not Bulky on the bottom. I am surprised at how fast it is In the 2nd gear Mode and surprisingly when you're going 40 it is Surprisingly very stable. I have been cruising around for about a week on just a one Battery only being charged once. I have also hit some rocks and stuff and I Surprisingly have not crashed knock on wood.

One of the best commuters boards to date I was surprised from the build quality you get with this board for $400. The deck is stiff but you’d be suprised it’s very absorbent and confident enough to get up to 26mph

It’s I really great bored. Whether you got a make a quick short distance commute or just like fooling around the neighborhood. As a student at ASU it’s become a priceless tool to make sure I make it to class on time. User friendly and easy to adjust for the beginner and it comes with a back tote for easy caring when not riding on the streets. Definitely a good board for getting your feet wet in the electric motorist world.

Love the board, but my wheels got some chips in them. Not sure why? Ordered some new ones but they were 50 bucks and with this review I guess I get 10 bucks off. Hope my next Wheels work better not sure if I'm hitting stones or what or if it's just the wheels aren't that great. Would like more options for this board in the wheels only get to choose one kind right now

This board has been helping me commute back and forth to my college classes it’s definitely worth the investment. I’ve been riding it everyday and had no issues regarding the board!!!

Being a rookie boarder, this board is very nice, price was good for a entry level board an it feels real nice under foot. Stable, smooth, comfy, the deck is nice an fits my size 10 shoe very nicely. I would totally recommend this to a newbie boarder any day! Plus they are quick to respond for any questions, the rumors i heard are true. Backfire does care about their customers! 10/10 for me.

Bought this board as a beginner. I skated traditionally years ago, but this is a whole new experience. The ride is smooth, controls were super easy to pick up, and the battery life is actually amazing for someone my size (about 160lbs). The free backpack that comes with the Era was a definite plus as well, as the electric boards tend to be on the heavy side, and carrying it around can be a pain. I can easily store my charger and tools inside the bag as well. Highly recommend this board.

Amazing ride honestly. For the price it is unbelievable.

Wow, it's a crazy board, as a reviewer I have checked out many different esk8 setups and boards and I am stunned that they could get such an amazing board for only 400$

Hey second review!! First electric longboard purchase, really great Im glad I got it it's so clean and it's a good size, has a slight concave, it can go over bumps no prob, turns nicely just loosen up those trucks. Definitely a commuter battery wise but nothing a portable battery can't fix, it's fast Ive been up to 35mph not even on turbo.
